Uh, I mean, I guess I could be pregnant?

Finding out I was pregnant... ha... that was a funny day. Womanly, monthly things were running a little late, so even though we hadn't been trying, of course the thought that enters most women's minds, entered mine... "Maybe I'm pregnant?"
I mentioned it to Chris, and he said, "Well, should we get one of those pregnancy test things?"
Me: "Uh, I mean, I guess I could be pregnant, but I really don't think I am. I dunno. I mean I really don't think I am... but I guess if I took a test, then we would know for sure that I'm not, right?"
Chris: "Well, uh, yeah... I guess maybe you should take one. I mean if it would make you feel better. Whatever you want to do."

Later that day during a Walgreens trip to pick up a few things (toothpaste, face wash, deodorant...)
Chris: "So should we get a pregnancy test?"
Bekah: "Uh, I guess so... Which one should I get?"
Chris: (In true Chris Gannon form...) "Just get the cheapest one."
Bekah: "What? Really? The cheapest one? This is a big deal, Chris!"
Chris: "They are all the same, Bekah. Get the cheapest one."

So I grabbed the store brand 3 pack. And off we went to pay for our stuff.

Back at home, several hours later... after watching a movie, cleaning around the house, playing video games, etc... I said, "Well, should I take that test?"
(I always envisioned that this process would be much more dramatic. Nervous about getting the test, and then rushing in the door to take it as soon as possible. But instead it was just kind of like, "Uh, well...")

Chris: "Yeah, I guess so."
Me: "Ok..."

Took the test in the bathroom, came back out to sit on couch with Chris... After several minutes had passed, and a commercial came on (I'm telling you, we were WAY too laid back about this...), I went back into the bathroom to check the results.

"Hmm...ok...TWO blue lines...let me check the directions... cause I thought TWO blue lines meant pregnant, but I KNOW I'm not pregnant, so let me just check this..." I was thinking to myself after seeing the test results. After checking the directions to find that yes, TWO blue lines, DOES mean PREGNANT... I just went into denial, standing there, looking at the test, thinking, "But I'm not pregnant..."

Chris: "Uh, Bek... what'd it say?"
Me: "Um, you better come in here, Chris. I mean, surely this isn't right..."
Chris: "What? What do you mean..."
Me: "Well, I don't know... I mean, this is saying I'm pregnant."
Chris: "WHAT? Let me see that... where are the instructions..."
Me: "You know, I heard these things have false positives all the time. Or maybe I let it sit too long. I think I should just take another one."
Chris (laughing at this point): "Bekah, sweetie, I think you are pregnant."
Bekah: "Well I just need to take another one and make sure I do it right this time..."
Chris (still laughing, and entering a state of shock): "Ok... take another one."

So this time I stayed in the bathroom the whole time, watching as the results appeared. I think the instructions said it could take up to 2 minutes for the results to fully appear. Ha! In about 15 seconds there they were again, TWO blue lines.

Me (now laughing, too): "Chris... oh dear..."
Chris (reading the second test's results): "Oh my goodness... You are pregnant!"
Me: "I'm pregnant!?!?"

I think these pictures below captured our feelings pretty well...

This event was followed by lots of laughter, disbelief, and a very funny phone call to the OBGYN. Yes, we were shocked, but very happy.
